About the Event
The RCF Community Spelling Bee is a fun, confidence-building competition for students in Grades 3–12. All families and schools are welcome—spectators attend free.
Divisions
- Junior: Grades 3–5
- Intermediate: Grades 6–8
- Senior: Grades 9–12
Schedule
- Check-in: 10:00 AM
- Opening & Rules: 10:20 AM
- Round 1: 10:30 AM
- Finals: 1:30 PM
- Awards & Photos: 3:00 PM
Prizes
- Trophies for 1st–3rd in each division
- Medals for finalists and certificates for all participants
- Special recognition in our Future Leaders Spotlight
Rules (summary)
- Single-elimination rounds; finalists advance to the championship round.
- Spellers may ask for definition, part of speech, or language of origin.
- 30 seconds to start spelling after the word is given.
- One self-correction allowed before the judge indicates the spelling is final.
- Judges’ decisions are final; full rules provided at check-in.
Registration
Register a Student (closes one week before the event)
- Free to enter. Space is limited; first come, first served.
- Parent/guardian consent required for minors.
- Schools may register groups; email us for roster templates.

Prepare & Practice
- Review grade-appropriate word lists and read daily.
- Practice speaking clearly into the mic and asking for definitions.
